Weather Slate

Weather should help with the day ahead

Weather Slate exists to make a forecast easier to use in real life: what it may feel like, when it may change, and how it fits the things you care about.

Clarity before volume

Weather information is rich, but a busy screen can leave the most useful answer hard to find. Weather Slate’s direction is to put the current picture first, organize the next hours, and keep deeper detail within reach.

That does not mean hiding uncertainty or reducing every decision to one number. It means giving each view a job. Weather Score provides orientation; the detailed forecast explains the conditions; radar adds geographic and timing context.

Planning gives the numbers a purpose

A temperature becomes more meaningful beside the time of a practice. Rain timing matters differently to a photographer, a commuter, and an event organizer. Weather Slate’s planning work starts with those everyday questions.

The app does not use generative AI. Its weather explanations are calculated from weather information in the app. Clear language should help people understand the available information while keeping missing or provisional information visible.

A focused starting point

Weather Slate is a U.S.-focused iPhone app published by 4E2 LLC. It is currently pre-launch. The screenshots on this site come from the real app in development; they are not generated interface concepts.

U.S. focus allows the product to concentrate on local weather needs and U.S. radar and official-alert sources. It does not guarantee every data product at every location or make Weather Slate a government service.

A few principles worth keeping

  • Make the core experience useful for free.
  • Keep ads out of the experience.
  • Keep safety-related weather information free.
  • Explain what is in development without inventing release dates.
  • Describe privacy choices and data use plainly.
